Obeying a command

by David Falk | 04 February 2012

We need to change our thinking about what a priest is. The apostle Peter called all followers of Jesus Christ, a royal priesthood. 1 Pe 2:9. When we serve as priests before God, we are performing the specific ‘works’ which He has ordained for each of us to do. Eph 2:10. The word of our priesthood comes to every man and woman in the form of a command. Jesus said, ‘As the Father commanded Me so I do.’ Joh 10:18. Joh 14:31.

Life at The Chapel

Toowoomba, Kingaroy and Chinchilla Church

At Toowoomba Christian Fellowship, we value family life and share a deep love for God´s word. Our style of worship in music and song includes free worship, which the psalmist calls the ´new song´. At The Chapel, there is opportunity for individual members to exercise their spiritual gifts in all our gatherings. The TCF church programme is based on offering and giving and we relate together as a Christian community. Toowoomba Christian Fellowship offers people real connection to God´s purpose for their lives. We are also dedicated to sharing Christ with others.

Toowoomba, Dalby and Kingaroy ChurchThe Chapel, home of Toowoomba Christian Fellowship, is a vibrant local church located on the north side of Toowoomba. Families, singles, young and old, men and women, teenagers and children gather together to celebrate the life that is found in Jesus Christ. You are most welcome to join us each Sunday morning for The Chapel Hour in Toowoomba, and every second Sunday morning in Kingaroy and Chinchilla.

The Chapel Hour offers impacting ministry in word and song. Our musical directors are Lachlan and Melanie Perrin and our inspirational speakers include David Falk, David Baker, Lachlan Perrin and Nathan Smith. They are also regular contributors to The Chapel Magazine.

What We Believe

At Toowoomba Christian Fellowship we believe that all Scripture in both the Old and New Testament is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, correction and training. 2 Tim 3:16. In RFI churches, we are also committed to understanding ‘present truth’ which the apostle Peter referred to in his second letter. He wrote, ‘For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth’. 2Pet 1:12. In the preceding verse, Peter said that ‘present truth’ provides us with an abundant entry into the everlasting kingdom. We believe ‘present truth’ is that specific scriptural instruction which is theologically relevant to each generation in every time and place. The verse in Peter’s letter might also be translated as ‘the truth which is present with you’. This infers that ‘present truth’ is both relevant to us and resident in us.

In the book of Revelation, the apostle John encouraged Christians to hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches. Rev 2:7. John said, ‘He who has an ear let him hear’. Whilst we do not seek to add to the Scriptures or ‘exceed what is written’, we are committed to hearing what the Holy Spirit is saying to His church in our current historical context. 1 Cor 4:6.

Our Structure

Entry Banners at The ChapelAt Toowoomba Christian Fellowship and indeed all Restoration Fellowships International churches, we hold firmly to the doctrine of the Trinity, ‘one Triune God'; that is, one distinct and intrinsic Father, one Lord Jesus Christ and one Holy Spirit.

We believe that each member of the body of Christ has specific grace and capacity which our leadership is committed to promoting and facilitating. Opportunity is therefore provided for individual members to exercise their spiritual gifts in our gatherings.

In all RFI churches, we have modelled our leadership structure on the pattern which the apostle Paul established in the Ephesian church during his two year stay. Consequently, we have coined the phrase, ‘Ephesian Pattern’. It comprises a multiple eldership and includes overseers and deacons who are able to manage the various areas of our church life, which we call ‘administrations’, having adopted the term used by Paul in his first letter to the Corinthians. 1 Cor 12:28.

In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul declared that Jesus gave gifts to men when He ascended on high. Eph 4:8. Paul went on to say that Jesus ‘Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ’. Eph 4:11, 12. Taking our cue from the Scripture, we refer to these five capacities as ‘ascension gift ministries’ and we acknowledge and submit to the men and women who have this kind of grace.

The upcoming March Regional Bible Seminar will be held at the Brisbane Christian Fellowship auditorium, on Saturday 3rd March. We look forward to meeting with others from throughout Australia, as we hear the word proclaimed and direction set for the year. The first session commences at 1:15pm, followed by a BYO afternoon tea. The seminar will conclude at 5:15pm. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to prioritise towards this high point in our annual calendar.

The Word of the Lord

Present Truth

For many people, believing in God is not difficult. "You believe that there is one God, you do well; even the demons believe and tremble." James 2:19. What about belief in Jesus? Why is He important? Was He just a man? Just a carpenter? Or was He the Son of God?

The Bible provokes our thinking, 'One will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.' Rom 5:7-8. Jesus died for us, yet lives today. It's never too late to connect with Jesus. His love, His hope and His eternal life.

Fruit of the Vine

Restoring My Soul CoverGaining Approval

We would all like to know that God approves of us but how can we be sure that we are pleasing to Him? When we examine the Bible, and particularly the book of Hebrews, we find that it is impossible to please God without faith. We read, ‘Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old gained approval. Read More...

Restoring My Soul

'Restoring my soul' is a monthly daily devotional guide produced by Vision One. The title is taken from the well-known words of the psalmist, ´He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name´s sake´. Psa 23:3. This verse beautifully portrays a vibrant devotional life. The purpose of the devotional guide is to help individuals and families digest the word of God in daily portions. More..

At Toowoomba Christian Fellowship we have a vibrant Family of Song programme that seeks to foster a culture of musical expression for all individuals and families.

This is a key outlet for sharing the word of God. 'Your statutes are my songs.' Psa 119:54. We are committed to expressing the word of God through song, from the youngest of ages in our Sonseeker programme, to Sunday orchestra, vocal and instrumental training programmes and outreach based music events.

About Us

Toowoomba Christian Fellowship is part of, a nation-wide fellowship of twenty-five churches with connections in New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Pakistan. We are part of a global movement, Restoration Fellowships International, which seeks a return to the vitality of the early New Testament church. Our roots are in the Pentecostal revival of the early 1900’s, the Latter Rain movement, as well as the Charismatic Renewal. Consequently, we believe and practice the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Like many similar churches, we are a group of Spirit-filled believers.

We refer to ourselves as a ‘lampstand church’, taking inspiration from the lampstand churches in the book of Revelation. These seven churches, one for each city, support a great number of people at the close of history which the Bible calls, ‘The time of the end’. Our local churches can therefore be compared to lights which are placed upon a lampstand.

Our church organisation is based on the lampstand and its 70 parts which God directed Moses to make for the Old Testament tabernacle. The oil of God’s word can thereby supply grace to many individual ‘lights’ in a region. Our structure encourages local citywide churches in various towns and cities, to maintain relationship and connection through shared ministry and support.
